CW47 2001

18.11.2001 - 24.11.2001

Today is Sunday, November 18, and yes, we're still outside.
Where is „outside"? Outside is in Puerto Caleros wharf, the Varadero Puerto Calero.
A wharf where they take care of almost everything. All you need is enough time. Marina manager Queco Morales Conzáles will then organize pretty much anything you need.
You can also find the wharf at www.puertocalero.com, or directly by email: varaderopuertocalero@terra.es.
Still, we're not quite done here yet, because the antifouling still needs a last coat.
Monday evening and everything is being prepared so that we can start hoisting first thing tomorrow morning. In other words: we're going back into the water. Finally! So the crane already gets driven to the ship, the harness adjusted and prepared so we can start immediately.

On Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. we get going and are already hanging in the air - or rather in the straps.

The ship, weighing 19 tons, is held by 4 straps!
The keel is quickley painted and then things get quite tight. The box the ship is being put in is only 7,56 m wide and SILVER BLUE has a width of 7,40 m. A fender just fits between the ship and the side of the box, but that's about it. We pull the ship out of the box by hand and go streight across to the landing to moore there.
Now we're back in the water, but that doesn't mean we're finished.
The last jobs on the engine and the generator can only be done now. Then the electrician also has a few jobs to finish and we're still busy polishing. So the next few days are also planned.

On Friday we'll buy a few more groceries in order to have sufficient supplies for our way to Gran Canaria.
Saturday, November 24, is another long working day and the last preparations for our departure from Puerto Calero are made.

From tomorrow on we'll definitely be on our way again.
What the new week held for us … next week,
Same time, same place!
So long
