Well guys, there's not much to tell about this week. As usual the week passed
quickly with plenty of work to be done on the ship.
There's always lots of work if you want to keep a ship in good working order.
We've still got a big project planned before we leave for the Panama Canal
in September. SILVER BLUE will get a new, permanent Bimini top. So far not
even the planning phase could be concluded, since time travels slower in Latin
America - but more about that some other time.
Next week the wind generator, manufactured by KISS/Trinidad, will leave SILVER
BLUE.
Apart from the poor quality of the product, especially from this manufacturer,
I think that having a wind generator only makes sense during the trade-wind
season, during which a constant wind of about 15-25 knots is blowing. That's
when an effective wind generator produces electricity, but it also produces
noise - and it stays ugly all year round.
So SILVER BLUE will get some additional solar panels (another reason for the
permanent Bimini top) that produce electricity, quietly and reliably, all
year round (and the newest generations even under an overcast sky).
Well, that was it for this week. There'll be more next week, I promise!
And at the end a few pictures of Cartagena
See you soon,
Take care,
TOM
