CW 32 2004

02.08. - 08.08. 2004

Slowly everything is calming down over hier. All festivities are over and there are only a few boats in the bay of Taiohae. This is also noticeable in the village, as many inhabitants of Nuku Hivas are on holiday on other French-Polynesian islands.

Now is also the time of the ripening of guavas, so we hike with Renaud into the mountains to harvest some guavas, which grow wild here.

Furthermore, we have a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape and nature.

We harvest about 80 kg, which he purees and then sells it frozen to a jam company in Morea. We make guava-joghurt and guava milkshake, which tastes very nice. We're trying out other things as well …

More in the coming week,
Till then … everything of the best!
