SILVER BLUE is moored to one of the numerous buoys in the Nakema Creek in Savu Savu. But obviously not all of them are that stable, since, a week later, we met that little brother in the foreground drifting along, outside the bay - him and all the mooring ropes and straps.
Of course we tow him back and the grateful owner is also quickly found. Well, even apart from that we had an interesting week. Savu Savu is a rather attractive place in itself, with hot springs at its outskirts. Those springs are so hot we decide to have a fish-barbeque there.

After half an hour in aluminum foil, with butter and garlic, the fish is done and delicious.

Of course Savu Savu also has lots of shops, selling almost anything. Usually their owners are Indians. In Fiji a good 50% of the population are Indians and that has often led to fights and is still an unsolved problem. But living together is quiet and the people of Fiji are exceptionally friendly.

Looking around in one of these shops we actually meet some old acquaintances from the Marquesas. Of course that leads to some excitement and a nice picture of Damas - one of Taihoes best artists - and Antoine who was born in Taihoe.

But it's slowly getting time to visit Fijis capital Suva where we have a few things to take care of. En route we take a two-day stopover in Makogai. This island has quite a history: it was one of the largest leper colonies in the pacific, where up to 4000 leper patients were tended to by French doctors and nurses; they often paid for their help with their own lives.
Today 4 families live alongside the relics from the past. They operate a research station for turtles and clams.
