KW22 2001

26.05. - 02.06.2001

We commence our turn with a week's delay and start from Protoroz (Slovenia) instead of Venice.
Accordingly we do not sail along the italian adriatic coast but the croatian adriatic coast.

Today is the 26th May 2001 and we rise at 5:30 a.m., and that even without an alarm clock, naturally, since today we finally set out.
At precisely 7:00 a. m. we put to sea and leave the marina of Portoroz through the harbour exit and head for the wide world.
Our first stop is the beautiful little town of Rovinj.
After we anchored and cleared in the bay of Lon, we meet our friend Alex and his father, who spend a a short holiday there.

From Rovinj we proceed to Susak. With excellent weather and a good wind we sail comfortably on and spot our first dolphins.
On this trip there was also a special: we hoisted our flag www.silver-blue.net to the song Silverblue by Roxette.
There it is fluttering at the port-yard.

Our next stop is Pantera, and that after 35 miles of motor-cruising, since there is absolutely no wind. What a pity!
A magnificent sunset terminates our third day.

Our leg for the fourth day will not take too long, since we meet friends from Zadar after only 15 miles in the beautiful, sleepy town of Petrcane.
With Natascha and Sascha we had a Coffee Party on board and in the evening the two have invited us to a tasty meal of lamb in a quiet Konoba.

After a short night the church bells of Petrcane awake us at 6:00 a. m.
So we left for Borovnjak. But for this leg there is also hardly any wind.
It seems to have taken a holiday as well, because in Croatia there is a public holiday today, independence day.

From Boronvjak we proceed to Vis.
Today there is a lot of wind, a solid 20 knots ... but unfortunately out of the wrong direction, straight towards us again. Therefore we only made about 20 miles under sail.

But then we had a lucky catch.
Tom was trying out his new bait und there ... a tunafish got hooked on his rod.
A real beauty.
Fisherman's luck!

After arriving in Vis we dock and look forward to a relaxed dinner.
Even though the restaurant AS turns out to be an earthy, cosy place, the prices don't match the service at all. Much to expensive and poor quality. So nothing we could recomend!
Due to unstable weather and a broken water pump, we prefer to stay a day longer.

In the harbor of Vis there is Niklas.
Niklas helps with docking and all other matters.
It seems, that there is nothing he couldn't organize.
He also recomended an electrician to us, who was able to get us a suitable water pump from Split within a few hours.
Niklas, a very helpful man.
Thank you!

The announced bad weather doesn't spare the harbor.
Therefore our night is over, after only 3 1/2 hours of sleep.
So we set off early, refueling a little diesel and off towards Italy. We've planned to sail through the night, to the southern Adriatic coast up to Brindisi / Italy.

Imagine all, that this new week has brought us ... see you again in a week: same time, same place! So long.
