Hello guys, I'm back. After 22 hours of flying and plenty of plane changing
I finally return to Cartagena, late at night, on May 10.
The welcoming committee expecting me at the airport lets me forget about the
past endurances, and even getting all my "gifts" (only 45kg) through
customs isn't a problem. The customs officer lets me know, that I am not allowed
to bring in the game salami and the tasty ham from my beautiful home Slovenia,
nor the real Italian parmesan my friend Bernd gave me (time to say thanks
so much again). Tells me so, closes the bag again and welcomes me. That's
Latin America for you! Welcome back.
The five of us squish into a taxi (which doesn't bother me; I'm still used
to being squashed from the plane) and make our way back to the Club Nautico
where SILVER BLUE is awaiting me. Sadly, she's a little dirty … since
there was some problem with the guy who was supposed to clean her regularly
and he wasn't allowed to enter the Club Nautico any more. Oh well, I guess
it won't be too difficult to remove the dirt. Right now it's much more important
to enjoy the soft air and a glass of wine in the cockpit. The first stories
are being told, welcome gifts and presents are being exchanged, but then I
really have to go to bed … the day has really been a long one.
Jetlag wakes me up at 6am on Sunday morning and at 8am my stomach also comes
around and calls for a nice breakfast with fresh fruit at the club restaurant.
But that's not happening. Since it's Mothers day today the waitress and the
cook decided to go to the beach instead. Oh well, so I head towards the nearest
supermarket and after half an hour there's a big breakfast standing on the
cockpit table.
Finishing that takes some time, and I still need to unpack. In the afternoon
I visit a few people and then the day is already over. My motto is: early
to bed … after all, I still have some sleep to catch up on.
