During our last few days we enjoy the Galapagos animals. The penguins we introduced you to last week are almost only found here, on the island Isabella. The same is true for a totally different kind. On one of our exploratory walks along the snow-white beaches with lots of crabs looking out of their holes, we discover a large mangrove lagoon with numerous bright pink flamingoes standing in it.    Galapagos flamingos
Galapagos guppy    There's also quite a lot being offered under water. Even though there aren't any colorful coral reefs - everything is of volcanic origin - there are other beautiful things to discover, such as the amazing underwater formations, formed by lava, now and again housing a guppy.

We also use our last days to replenish our fruit and vegetable supplies. A young local we met while diving owns a finca that he's not cultivating yet, but a few things still grow wild here and we can help ourselves, for free, to passion fruit, papayas and even a banana bunch finds its way onto my shoulders.

tree house on a finca    What we can't find here we can get from other fincas. On one of them we can pick some first-class tomatoes ourselves (we pick them green so they last longer), and on another there's nothing for sale at the moment, but it owns a beautiful garden with a tree house that Nela and Claudia immediately climb up to.

Galapagos is really amazing and one could spend months here to explore more and more, but the South Sea is calling.
So we set out, across the pacific, to the Marquesas in French Polynesia.
3.000 nautical miles lie ahead of us, always heading into the setting sun, into the West.

More about it, next week.
Until then ... take care
