By now the sea lions had passed the word that SILVER BLUE was a really comfortable place to be and so they moved from the wobbly dinghy to the ship itself. During the day they play and tan on the stern steps and during the night they bounce around on deck and make themselves at home in the cockpit.    Seehund auf Galapagos
Tauchen mit Seehund-Babies    One of the nurseries of these cute animals is the island Lobos. Their offspring is so playful and trusting here that one can go for a swim with them and watch them display all their agility in water.

The volcanic activity in Galapagos has produced lots of small but impressive islands that rise steeply out of the water. One of them is the so-called "Leon dormido" that rises out of the water for hundreds of meters, with its numerous cliffs and caves, coming from a depth of more than 300 meters. (see images below)

And there's a lot going on below the water as well. The water temperature is a lot lower here that we've gotten used to from the tropical spheres, but the 22 °C here are interrupted by warm waters seeping out of a cliff now and again.

This is the home of large sea-dwellers that are just a little bit camera-shy, like the interesting to look at hammer shark and the Galapagos sharks that are only found here.
The colorful sea star relaxing on a rock is much easier to photograph.

More about Galapagos, next week, …
… until then, take care!
