We spent another few days in Tahaa, and then, after a detour
to Raiatea to pick up some diesel and food, we set out for Bora-Bora.
And Bora-Boras most distinctive landmark, Mount Otemanu, can be
seen from afar.

Our first anchoring places at Bora-Bora disappoint us a little
- the water is rather greenish and we move over to the southeastern
side and find Bora-Boras most beautiful anchoring spot near Motu
Piti Aau. |
The big hotels with their numerous over-water bungalows are also
situated on Bora-Boras more beautiful part, the Motu's. |

The island itself is a disappointment; boring, and rather dirty except
for those places where hotels are or other tourist gatherings. The money
we spent on a rental car (30% more than on other islands) was wasted.
Antoine had the most fun, immediately claiming the wheel. |
Our little bathtub-captain got a new swimming vessel for his huge bathtub
and apparently he's enjoying it. |

SILVER BLUE`s last anchoring spot is close to the entrance to Bora-Boras
lagoon, in front of the Moto Ahuna. A pretty place, but sadly the coral
here, as at the other places, is in a sorry condition.
Therefore, after almost a full year, we don't only say good-bye to French
Polynasia but also to the myths of Bora-Bora.
It was a great year with lots of interesting encounter and for us it
was also a special year since Antoine was born here. |
Well, we're off to new shores. We're heading for the Cook Islands and will
have more to tell from there, soon …
Until then, take care!
