We reach the lagoon of Huahine through the straights of Avapeihi
(right). Once we're in the lagoon defined by surrounding coral
reefs, the waters surface is calm, but there are a few very strong
currents, especially near the straights.

First we drop anchor in front of a beautiful beach near the
picturesque main village called Fare.

The people here are very friendly and the island is very neat, so
the crews of SILVER BLUE and of DEZIBEL decide to rent a car for
one day, to explore the islands inlands as well. Their apprentice
sailors Antoine and Alice also seem rather interested.

Apart from the magnificent views we're presented with, there are
a few interesting things to discover - amongst others a small river
where eels with blue eyes live. |

On this island, as on other Polynesian islands there are old cult
sites to be seen, but that much culture does make one hungry - especially
our two small adventurers. So we're onto the beach, quickly preparing
some food on the cars bonnet, closely watched by Antoine. |

In the afternoon we buy a nice pice of swordfish from a fisherman
and on sunday we turn that into a tasty fish barbecue.

Well, there are more pretty places on Huahine - the island really
is enchanting - and therefore, next week, we'll report from here again.
Until then ... take care!
Tom, Nela & Antoine
