Every Tuesday you'll find the logbook of the past week here. The weeks before you will find in the archive.

Januar - Februar 2007

SILVER BLUE is lying in the Telaga Harbour Marina. This marina is very well organized and is also well placed, in the northwest of Langkawis. The marinas staff are very friendly and helpfull. Also, good restaurants - from the cheap but good indian restaurant ( 2€ for 2 courses, incl. drinks) up to posh italian restaurant - are close by.

Telaga Harbour Marina

Thailand

Now it is time to leave this hospitable place, but the peacefull image taken the day before is slightly missleading - the border to Thailand is right to the north of Langkawis, and with 35 knots of wind we make our way through the bizzare island world.

One of our first stops in Thailands island world are the Ros Islands. Immediatly the park rangers stationed here come round and collect 10€ for the usage of the moorings that are strung out between the islands.

Nature preservation does have its price, and generally that is a good thing ...

Phi Phi Inseln

We carry on to the Phi Phi Islands. There are lots of brandnew tourist ships lying in the bay of the bigger Koh Phi Phi Don Island, and ashore people are still working on the damage done by the tsunami.

We carry on to Phuket, into Chalong Bay, to sign in. This isn't really a homely place, and ther are plenty of tourist cruisers around as well. Every morning and evening there's a huge hubub at the pier, as well as hundreds of stationary boats at the moorings, and, just like everywhere else, lots of open tourist boats with unprotected car engines in between. Which all makes lots of noise ...

One of the most beautiful bays of Phuket, Nai Harn, offers a lot more peace and quiet and the opportunity to enjoy magnificent sunsets. Which is, why most of the cruisers are here.

With a few friends from Austria we return to the Phi Phi Islands. This time we visit Koh Phi Phi Lee, one of the smaller islands where the movie "The Beach" was made. Of course that makes it a tourist attraction with lots of tourist boats, but SILVER BLUE is the only sailing boat lying in front of this magnificent backdrop.

Thailand

Well, Thailand does have lots to offer, but it is also very crowded and so we return to Telaga Harbour in Malaysia at the end of February. This is were SILVER BLUE will stay until the end of October. We will be visiting the bays of Langkawis and discovering some of Thailand islands in November and December - and here we will be welcoming company, for those sailors amongst you that would like to enjoy actively.

From Januar to March 2008 SILVER BLUE will be sailed back into the Mediterranen, via the Maledives and the Red Sea. For this leg we're looking for 1-2 tough Sailors who would help - on the principle of hand for bunk.

Well, that was it for a while now, from aboard SILVER BLUE´s.
We wish you a good time and all the best!
